Yeah sure you can quote some small micro example about how communism has worked. This world is filled with free riders who will exploit any sort of equalization plan like the ones communism promotes. It is better to let the people compete and have some regulations in place to have some control over the competition.

US is much more dependable ally than China or Russia who are ruled by maniacal parties which will never change. George Bush may be crazy too but he is out pretty soon.

What was the "help" that China offered? Don't make up stuff like that. Go read how they blocked India's entry to ASEAN:

If India gets closer to China, they will claim all of our border regions. It is better to keep distance from it.

Dear drlskrishnan, No one lives in an utopian land. We all strive to reach that stage.
Dont go by politics. Think about the idea.
The best example I can qoute of communism was at the time Israel was going thro its birth pangs. Newly formed Jewish settlements were surrounded by hostile Arab villages. The Jewish settlements were populated by a motly mix of different nationalities , occupations and political inclinations. But they were united as their survival depended on it. Evey person was allotted a job and the produce of the settlement was shared equally. Some of these settlements exist to this day and are very successful. Others could not withstand the progress and relative years of peace which brought other more important goals like self progression to the fore and lead to the rupture of the bond holding them together. What hostilites could not achieve peace could.

Speaking of politics, Cpi M was not against the nuke deal , but against the strings attached.
Points to ponder- When Russia was willing to give 4 Reactors why did we not sign the dotted line. It was a unconditional deal. Now China offers help , what wrong with that?
We need the power dont we? As long as we dont have to be dependent on any one superpower , we will progress.

Dear ksreekay, when I said 'out of sync'I didn't mean minority.I also agree that majority view doesn't necessarily have to be correct.I meant communists live in an utopian land. They only talk& talk rheterics.Even in the land where communism started it has been so diluted that it's only a verbal gymnastics & nothing more.China has started massive capitalisation of its economy. In our own context in the ongoing controversy about the nuclear deal even China has indicated that they are not against it.So hereafter our friends also will slowly tone down their objections & allow it to be operationalised. They always talk about a classless soceity. But do you honestly believe it will happen.Thier way of equalisation is to remove the wealth and nationalise everything. They wont be able to make the poor rich,so they will make the rich ,poor.Do you honestly believe in West Bengal where they are in power for more than 2 decades they've done something really wonderful to bring social equality that talk so much about and say is very close to their heart.More so when there is so little political opposition to them all these years. They're at the very best dreamers,& good orators. That's all.
And you yourself accepted they are rigid. And they are afraid that people will get to know , that they've been talking hollow.I think that's why they are rigid.

drlskrishnan, When you say" out of sync with reality" I guess what you mean is "being in a minority". And I am sure you agree that the majority is not right always. Nor should the minority be compelled to change their views to be in line with the majority. They may have to accept being overuled but they retain their right to dissent and dont have to accept the majority veiw.

Communism is against the basic human nature of possessing wealth says gsuresh. It would be better to say it is against disparity in wealth accumalated by individuals. The greatest failing of communism is its rigidity. And perhaps its greatest strength, too. To survive in a evolving society the ideas too should evolve and adapt.

As India hurtles down the road to prosperity, we should ensure the gravy train reaches every corner of the country. The disparity between the have and have-nots are bound to increase.
And that is what led to the French , Russian and so many other revolutions. To avoid such a situation perhaps the minority(communist) view should be heeded?

Perhaps we should discuss how best to achieve an all inclusive growth.
Where "loving it" at Mc Donalds is not more important than caring about suicides by farmers.
Where people think about the homeless before opting for a second home for investment and tax purpose.

Sure we should accumulate wealth , That is the quality that keeps us different from animals who take only what is needed by them to survive and hence do not make much of progress in life. But , they stay true to Nature and do not try to alter it like man nor Create like God ,which seems to be the evolutionary step man is progressing to ,it would seem with all this talk of cloning.

I agree with drlskrishnan... Communism is against the basic human nature of possessing wealth!!!

Man always want something only for himself - family, house, property etc...Communism is too much of utopian idea, which can not be followed by any one.

Communism is not practical....

Dear friend,it's none of the above reasons. It's because that they are so totally out of sync with reality but would't accept that,by any amount of honest debate or discussions.
