Manmohan Singh- All Indians owe a lot to this man when he pulled
India out of an economic morass. He could do this thanks to a politician who was pitch forked to the most powerful seat of this country from obscurity by vested interests who wanted just a figure head. Narashimha Rao knew the work that was needed to be done. He chose the right man and gave him a free hand as a Finance minister, even though he was running a minority govt. He used all the tricks and even bribed to stay in control. Eventually he paid the price for it. No one will thank him or remember his role in
India’s progress. You may wonder why I am talking of Rao here. Manmohan is also going thro the same course that Rao went thro. The difference is that the dirty work is being done by others and he prefers to keep his Clean image. All that is fine as long as he had no knowledge of the games being played by Younger brother Amar Singh. But his smug V sign and the Thumbs Ups before the trust vote showed his fore knowledge of all the dirty politics going on. His grin was all the more galling when he went out and attacked Prakash Karat and the Left without whose support he could not have achieved anything. It is because of the Left that the plus points of this govt like the NREG came about. And now it is because of the Left and Prakash Karat in particular that India is conscious to the nuances of the nuke deal and how a man who saved the nation is unwittingly causing it to become a Bonded Slave of
America.Nuclear Energy is indeed a must for our economic growth. But at what cost!Just because we have agreed to suspend testing, does not mean refrain from testing. No Testing. Means No Use of the Weapons either. In that case we might as well hand over all our weapons to
America Our friend. Are you ready for that? And our P.M says We have the right to test and US has a right to react! That takes the cake. What will you do when they react?

Used to wonder how PVN Rao got forgotten so easily, when actually he deserves a Bharath Rathna, for heading a minority govt, for the first time and pulling it together !
Also, for ushering in all the reforms that were / are needed !!
But, MMS & PC forgot all that and kept all the credit for the reforms among themselves !!
Actually, PVN deserved much more, but look what he got from his own party, Congress - a stab in the back !!
It was good riddance of Nehru family at the time, but they somehow managed to make a comeback, for the entire loss of the country !!

Well , I believe any person can lead India if he has popular support. That is what democracy is all about. So I have nothing against the Nehru-Gandhi family. They have earned their seats with votes. Personally, I think all the reforms we see now is because of one man’s attemt to pull India to greatness and that person is not Manmohan Singh. Rajiv Gandhi was an Indian airlines pilot when his mother ruled India. He was not intrested in politics and was reluctantly drawn to it by the twin tragedies he faced. He did not have the experience but he had the ideas. The telecom and computer revolutions of our country was started by him .This laid the foundation of our IT revolution that is how India started Shining. Sonia Gandhi may have been Itallian born but her children are here and not in the USA as many children of our top politicians and babus are. Rahul comes across as very naive unlike his father who was very polished and articulate.

Well, One has to give credit where it is due. If indeed the govt has pulled off the NSG deal without giving away the right to test when necessary, the nation is indebted to the officials who saw the deal thro, Manmohan Singh for seizing the opportunity, Prakash Karat and the Left for playing the Bad Cop to MMS’s Good Cop which limited the pressure that any country could have put on India at deal table, also Amar Singh who rightfully said that the deal came about only because of SP Support!(Psst.. Here is a secret from Amar Singh ….Dont spread please… they managed the abstentions at the confidence vote (of BJP) and at the NSG too(China and a few other Countries)( CNN-IBN was not around this time round, having learnt the hard way by shooting itself on its foot). Finally how can we forget George Bush. The man who squandered on Pakistan 10 Billion dollars that was used to wage war on India (So says Obama), now he had to have a feather in his cap after all his misadventures elsewhere. Only time will tell whether we need the bomb or not. Looking westward and the kind of simmering pot of nitro-glycerin there, I can only pray we never have to TEST this deal.
